BIG by Vashti Harrison
This has all the BIG emotions for us BIG kids. It feels like the space we take up is too much. We're not the same size as the kids who whisper while they look at you. You're not the right size when a grown-up says you're too big for that. Everyone else gets to do all the things, while BIG kids are made to feel like it's not the right thing. What is the right thing? What is the right size? Why won't they make space for me? Why is the only space made for us, not right for us?
Vashti's illustrations are the best interpretations I have ever seen of how we can feel physically as we have these moments of BIGness.
We belong in the same space. In the same dances, in the same seats, in the same clothes, in the same love. Thank you, Vashti. BIG belongs in everyone's space.
