Home is Where the Birds Sing by Cynthia Rylant, illustrated by Katie Harnett

If I hadn't even read the title, I found HOME in every thoughtful word and every colorful illustration. The sounds and smells, the comforts and familiar walls, they aren't mine, yet they feel like mine. I can immediately imagine my own childhood homes, and the one I am making for my own child. I love that it's not just about locations, but about actions too. It has a meditative quality to it, to help ground you in a calm moment of home.
