GRAY by Laura Dockrill, illustrated by Lauren Child, hits home. For me, colors are everywhere in my head. My emotions especially are filled with colors. When I am feeling low, those colors de-saturate. I don't feel like me. Both Laura and Lauren have perfectly worded and illustrated what it is like to be GRAY. To have a gray day visit, stick around, and wear out its companion. The labeling of emotions with colors and tangible like "sunshine yellow" or "puddle in the road", is magnificent. They also show how someone can help someone with a gray day. Tiny little moments of help, a gesture, a different companion. Take some color and cover the gray with scribbles. The images are so bold and so simple. I have read the book multiple times already. Love.
