THE BIRDERS, by Rob Albanese, displays the surreptitious friendship between Ollie McPhee and Mr. Flynn. I know a "Mr. Flynn" type birder. Journal keeping, and photographs upon photographs of the birds he birds. I also know an "Ollie McPhee" type kiddo. Honest and matter-of-fact. Excitable and adventurous. Theses two kept me laughing the entire time. I re-read the book immediately to laugh again. You forget they are on a mission that is usually like fishing- a lot of skunked moments, but hopefully something gets in the boat. They handle it beautifully when they are skunked. I'm not giving away the end!
